Flowers and Gifts FAQ's

Ordering Flowers and Gifts

Can I order flowers and gifts over the telephone?

Yes, you can - please see our Contact Us information page for telephone numbers.

Can I order multiple items?

Yes, you can order flowers for multiple addresses during the same session as well as non floral gifts such as greetings cardsvaseschocolates, Teddy bears and balloons.

How do I know you have got my order?

Once your secure payment has been completed you will receive an automated email with your order details.

What if I do not receive an order confirmation by e-mail?

Firstly, check your junk, trash or spam folder. If you haven't received any email from us 5 minutes after placing your order please email or telephone us.

Can I cancel or amend my order?

Yes, you can, but we regret that orders cannot be cancelled within 48 hours of dispatch with the exception of funeral flowers where we require a minimum of 5 days cancellation notice. Order amendments are usually possible at most times - please call us as soon as possible if this is the case. If you place an order for our click and collect service and fail to collect your flowers, there will be no refunds for non collection of goods.

Can I pre-order in advance?

We accept orders up to 12 months in advance and we recommend that flowers specifically for a funeral be completed at least 48 hours before the actual funeral, although 5-7 days is more usual.

Delivery of Flowers and Gifts

What days are flower deliveries made?

Flowers for gifts can be delivered the same day, Monday - Friday if ordered by 1pm. We have different lead times for specific areas, so please check that we can deliver your order same day by visiting our delivery page. For a Saturday delivery, please order by 3pm on a Friday. We recommend for funeral flowers that you order a minimum of 48 hours before the funeral to ensure availability, the flowers are delivered approximately two hours before the actual funeral service time.

Do you deliver flowers on Sundays?

We only deliver flowers on Mothering Sunday, Valentines day (if on a Sunday) or during peak trading periods such as Christmas.

Do you deliver flowers on Bank Holidays?

No, we don't deliver flowers on any UK bank holidays with the exception of Easter Good Friday.

Who delivers the flowers?

If the flower delivery is within our local geographical area, then Rays Florist will deliver there directly. Otherwise we will relay all Uk national flower orders via a trusted florist network.

Can I specify a timed delivery?

With the exception of funeral flower orders we are unable guarantee timed deliveries. Whilst we cannot guarantee any specific times or am/pm requests for most areas, we'll do our very best to accommodate you. We do offer a AM delivery service for areas that are close to our shop.

What times are deliveries made?

Flower deliveries are made by Rays Florist or our partner florists between 8am and 6pm or extended hours during busy or peak trading periods.

What happens if the recipient is not home?

We will attempt to leave your delivery in a secure and convenient place (for example with a neighbour or within a secure porch or safeplace). On the occasions we are unable to deliver we will post a card informing the recipient of the necessary contact details to arrange collection or re-delivery. If we receive the incorrect address details and subsequently have to re-deliver to an alternative address another delivery charge will be levied.

Do Rays Florist leave flowers on the doorstep?

No! For various reasons, such as security, weather and theft, florists do not leave flowers on the doorstep (even if requested to). We will firstly attempt to deliver to a near neighbour (to get a signature proof of delivery) or that isn't possible (in a rural location for example) we will find a safeplace on the property. In all cases of flowers not being handed directly to the recipient, we will leave a card informing them of our actions.

How do I know that my flowers have been delivered?

We email delivery confirmations for all online orders and if you place your order by phone, we will ask you for your email address so that we can send you a delivery confirmation. (Your email address is NOT used for any other purpose). For funeral flowers, we deliver approximately two hours before the service or the afternoon before if it's an early service to a funeral director or directly to the crematorium. Please note that we will not accept responsibility for any damage caused by funeral director or crematorium staff during the course of subsequent transportation to the funeral service. Our contract of sale ends when delivery is completed successfully to a funeral director.

Do Rays Florist offer free delivery?

No! We have yet to find a driver that works for free, a van that is free to buy and will also maintain itself for free. We've also never found that the government allow us free road tax or an insurance company that will give us free insurance. Nowhere gives diesel away for free sadly.
All joking aside, we will offer free delivery if we are able to walk the delivery to it's destination. More importantly, any florist or floristry website that offers 'free' delivery is being economical with the truth. Let's just say, for example, that a bouquet, with 'free' delivery is £40. That organisation (and it's usually the internet based ones) will immediately take out at least £7 and maybe up to £10 for postage and packaging and then even more as a 'commission'. Your £40 bouquet has then lost at least 30% or more of it's value. We prefer to be transparent. If you spend £40 on a bouquet with Rays Florist then you will receive a bouquet to the value of £40 with nothing taken out for 'florists time', commission, admin fees, processing fees or postage and packaging. Our delivery charges are based on postcode location, with the closer ones being the cheapest and the most farther reaches of our direct delivery area being the more expensive.

How much is delivery?

Please see our Delivery information page for flower delivery prices.

What do I do if my order has not been delivered?

Please wait until after 6pm as deliveries can be made up until this time (at peak times this could be later). Secondly check your e-mail to see if there have been any problems with your order. If this does not help please see our Contact Us page.

Can you deliver to Hotels, Ships, or Offices?

Yes, but please include some additional information:

  • Hotels: Address, Telephone No, Room No (if known), Name of tour company (if applicable).
  • Ships: Date and Time of sailing/docking, Cabin No (if known).
  • Offices: Company Name, Full address, Working hours.

Can you deliver to hospitals?

Most NHS hospitals DO NOT accept flowers on any ward (including maternity). Please check the hospitals flower policy before ordering. If the hospital does not accept flowers then delivery to a home address or relatives address is always possible. Most private hospitals DO accept flowers.

Can you deliver flowers overseas?

Yes, we can arrange flower deliveries internationally, to most countries in the world - please call us on 01252 311966.

Can I return my flowers? What is your return policy?

If you have any issues whatsoever, we operate a no quibble guarantee whereby we promise to provide you with a like for like bouquet - please call us on 01252 311966 beforehand. This offer is valid for 3 days after your bouquet is delivered or collected.
